One major piece of advice for moving overseas is start organising your move as soon as possible. Organise quotes from removal / shipping companies at least 8 weeks in advance. Consider whether you will be packing everything yourself or if you would like the removal company to do it for you. Whilst it will be much easier to have the removalist company deal with the packing, the cost will be substantially greater. You will have to weigh up the cost versus the stress, time and greater risk of breakage that comes with doing your own packing. Obtain at least three different quotes so that you can compare the services and the price on offer.

The removalists should be able to provide advice on shipping containers and other options for moving to another country. We strongly recommended that you take out insurance to cover any unexpected problems, including your shipping container falling into the ocean!

Once you have selected a moving company, ensure you confirm the booking at least 4 weeks in advance.
